SpaceX has formally renamed the business it used to report as Artificial Intelligence. The segment, which includes xAI, the Grok models and the social network X, is now called Super Intelligence, according to The Motley Fool and a research note from Mizuho.
The renamed unit grew quickly in the third quarter. The Motley Fool reports Super Intelligence revenue of $7.56 billion, up 830% from a year earlier and well above the $2.56 billion recorded in the second quarter. Most of the gain came from AI models, subscriptions and infrastructure, while X advertising contributed a smaller share.
SpaceX is spending heavily to keep that pace. Capital expenditure for the segment was $16.4 billion in the quarter, and the company guided total fourth-quarter capex to $35 billion to $40 billion. Management now targets about 13 gigawatts of cumulative compute by the end of 2027.
Mizuho kept its Outperform rating and a $205 price target after raising its Super Intelligence forecasts. On the earnings call, Elon Musk argued that power, cooling and infrastructure, rather than chips, are now the main limits on deploying superintelligence.
The bank said the new name reflects management's view that the business is becoming a broader platform rather than a single AI product.
